Also certain roads may not be ideal to take during snow or ice, such as backroads that aren’t cleared and de-iced in a timely manner. Planning your trip will allow you to get to your destination safely and more quickly.
4. Prepare Your Vehicle:  it is important to prepare your vehicle for the harsh weather of winter. Check the air pressure in your tires and your windshield wiper fluid levels. Also keep your vehicle’s maintenance up during non-winter months. This includes regular oil changes and transmission checks. Doing so will help avoid mechanical problems.
5. Charge Your Cell Phone:  often people get in a hurry and forget to charge their cell phones before leaving the house. Even if you have a vehicle
   charger, you will still want to charge your cell phone, especially if a storm or extreme cold is predicted. Your car battery may die and prevent you from charging your phone in your vehicle. In case of an emergency you will want to contact the police and nearby friends or family members for assistance.
